How Does a Color-Coded Quran Work?

The basic idea is very simple.

First, the reader learns the color key.

For example, imagine your Quran uses:

  • Red for one specific Tajweed rule
  • Green for another
  • Blue for a Madd rule
  • Dark Blue for Qalqalah
  • Gray for normal text

When reading a verse, the reader watches for those colors.

If a letter appears in blue, the reader knows that a particular rule applies. If a letter is dark blue, the reader knows to apply the rule associated with dark blue.

The process becomes:

See the color → remember the rule → apply the pronunciation.

With regular practice, this can become almost automatic.
